On Friday afternoon, Todd F heard that GLC would be running to Osmer on Saturday morning. Since daylight weekend moves on that part of the line aren't exactly common I was definitely interesting in joining him for a chase.
A little before 8 am we arrived at the shops in Owosso, and found a 4 unit set of power pulling out. The lashup included the 2 new 6 axle units, a GP38 & one of the original Ann Arbor GP-35s which would be the lead unit on the trip back north.
They stopped at the east end of San Yard between Owosso & Corunna and spend some time switching cars there, but just the engines headed south when they left town.

At Durand, they waited for a bit while CN ran stack train 149, and another westbound freight.
Passing the classic Ann Arbor depot in Howell.

At Osmer, they picked up a good sized train of covered hoppers and then headed north.
At Chilson, they stopped and added 10 old TSBY covered hoppers to the head end.

Working hard through Howell.
Back at Durand, they stopped the train blocking most of town, and then cut off the TSBY cars on the head end.
We assumed they were going to work the yard, but after heading to the north end saw them continue north with the short train. After getting one more shot near Vernon, we headed back to Durand, to see what happened with the hoppers from Osmer. Since they were nowhere in sight, we decided to head north on the HESR and sure enough caught the train between Lennon & Flushing. Behind a nice matched set of power they had several carloads of ties and then the long train from GLC.
