Re: CN - July 2017
No trains past MP 22.5 today, Fourth of July, on the Holly Sub. other than Amtrak. A rare holiday for the railroad out this way.

Had a southbound pull into Pontiac around 8:30 this morning with CN 2902, 2419 and 2293. It had a block of cars for Pontiac Yard, and the remaining portion is a ballast train.

Pair of Essexville trains sitting on the IC. First one has a pair of GEVOS and -9 DPU. Second one also has a pair of GEVOS but has a 70ACe DPU. BNSF 8564 is number.
Also saw a CH train. CN 2582 is the leader. Was curious if someone could get a symbol.

Re: CN - July 2017
At 12:21 Train 451 NB past MP 22.5 with 5678 and 2681 and a pretty long train for the holiday.
At 12:39, just after 451 went by, a SB with 2902, 2419 and 2293 rolled past MP 22.5 with a train of all Herzog loaded ballast cars.
The Herzog Ballast is passing MP 22.5 on the Holly NB at 4:40 pm with the same power but empty cars. I noticed that behind my house and south on Main 2 is a nice stream of ballast on either side of the rails, not in the middle, that the passing train placed there as it went south this early afternoon. Must do this automatically as the train never stopped or slowed down much. Stopped dumping for the Opdyke Crossing and started again on the other side. Must be controlled by the cab of the locomotive or by GPS. Many of the ballast cars have a solar panel on the corners, maybe to power the dumping? Interesting.

Re: CN - July 2017
6:23pm, L950, GTW 4619, NB past Motern w/ train. L533, CN 8900, working inside Moterm.
950 moving at a pretty good clip. Kicking up dust from the ballast.
Same with Amtrak 355.

Where are they "Dumping Ballast" along the Holly Subdivision? How long of a "Time Period" will this take place? Where are they going to "Dump" next (if anyone knows)?
This is a nice train to "Catch!!!!"
