Hi-cube Covered Hoppers

Unread post by AARR »

The latest Railway Age says there are "Hi-cube Covered Hoppers". This is new to me. I'd appreciate any information about them.

High cubic foot capacity vs the little shorty 2 bays or even some 3 and 4 bays. The hi-cube boxes picked up additional capacity by going higher and sometimes longer that the traditional box

Ok, I see now. I thought "Hi-cube" stood for "Excess Height" cars but it's "Additional Cubic Foot Capacity". Thanks.
