Here is the schedule for the CN Michigan Division Santa Train.
Will the train arrive in Battle Creek at exactly 3:30 p.m. or will it show up earlier?
And does anyone know what the likely motive power will be for this year?

Any good spots around Flat Rock? Spots closer to Flat Rock would be closer than spots near Port Huron area.

Don't bother trying to see it in Port Huron. They park the train by the yard office, where you really can't see it unless you're on RR or other private property. I've had good luck out at Pine River Road the past several years. There's plenty of parking and the shot has been fairly clear of obstructions.
I think I've heard seeing the train in Flat Rock is about as easy as seeing it in Port Huron (i.e. you can't, unless you work for CN). But just about any spot you would ordinarily watch trains between Port Huron and Flat Rock should work to see the train. I've heard good things on this board about Wyandotte, that might be a worthwhile place to see it...
Also, fwiw, it usually takes the train about 20 minutes to get to Pine River, after departing the PH yard office, and they've backed in to the yard (for a straight out departure) upon arrival on Friday night every year (I think) since they pulled the pair of covered wagons off a few years ago.

I got a decent shot of it as it passed the old Mt. Clemens depot a few years ago when it was pulled by IC units.

I hope the run from Flint to Durand follows 364... I'm on the Bluewater tonight from CUS - will stick around in Lapeer when I detrain should the Santa train be following us.
(in Chicago Union Station right now - waiting to board)

I don't recall seeing Christmas lights on this train. Anyone with pictures of the CN Santa train with Christmas lights on it ?

There were lights on it last year. RB Railfan on YouTube has a video of last year's train with lights.

I do not recall Christmas lights either. but then again it has been mid-day, when I have caught it, shortly after it departed Pontiac.
