I just saw NS 1071 (Central RR of New Jersey) at Elkhart on 65V. This is the third time I've seen this unit...all 3 times not expecting it. (Today I did not see it on heritageunits.com.) Since I wasn't expecting it, I didn't get a picture or video of it, but that's ok, in Sept 2013 it stopped at Smilax Rd. near New Carlisle, IN on a sunny afternoon and I got all sorts of good pictures of it.
I guess I'm getting my iron horse whispering skills back.
Since my earlier photos don't seem to work..here's one I took back on 9/23/13 at Smilax Rd, milepost CD 447 on the NS Chicago Line.

As of Saturday Night, I am up to 13, as I saw the Lehigh Valley unit go by Smilax Rd. after dark, and chased the train to LaPorte and got a so-so pic of it near "Wire." I had no laptop with me, so it was an accidental sighting, as was the C of G unit I got pics of when it went by me on 20N at Smilax Rd while it was still light out. This was my 3rd sighting of that unit.
I worked on Saturday and left Coloma at 3pm and got to Smilax Rd. around 3:45pm. I didn't have my laptop with me so I did not know the units were coming. That makes 3 accidental sightings at that location. :)
When I get more hard drive space cleared on my laptop, I'll get the pics off of my camera so I can post them here.

I haven't seen a single one yet. Yes, even when one showed up in Wyandotte.

Since you can only post 3 attachments at a time, and I have 4 photos to post, I'll post the first two here.
This is NS 20N on 3/28/15 at Smilax Rd. near New Carlisle, IN. (Milepost CD447 on the NS Chicago Line) with the C of G unit.

Here are pictures of NS train W7M in LaPorte, IN just west of the diamond at "Wire," with NS 8104 leading.

Hopefully someday soon I can see this one during the day and get better pictures.

Well, this is now officially outdated, as I photographed the Conrail unit trailing 39E at Pennsylvania Road a half-hour ago.

On my way to Milwaukee this weekend, I stopped at Chesterton to get lunch, and caught one train.
The train I caught happened to have NS 1111, the "Bar Code Unit." This is not a heritage unit, but it is one tracked on Heritageunits.com.

Caught 6 NS Heritage units so far. This is in chronological order:
#1 NS 8098 DPU on NS 725 in Lenoir City, TN 9/25/13:
Image
#2 NS 8100 Leading CSX K042 at West Trenton Station, West Trenton, NJ 3/19/14
#3+4 NS 1067 & 1071 leading NS 747 in Roanoke, VA 3/25/14 (Exactly one year apart from when I caught NS 8098):
Image
#5 NS 8099 Unassigned In Shaffers Crossing Yard, Roanoke, VA 3/25/14(Caught it after NS 1067 & 1071)
Image
#6 NS 8101 Unassigned At Roanoke Shops, Roanoke, VA 12/31/2014

Overall Units Caught: NS 1067, 1071, 8098 - 8101
So I already achieved more than a quarter of the NS Heritage Fleet.
Target Engines for this year: Amtrak 156, UP 1996, NS 1066, NS 1068, NS 1069, NS 1073, NS 1074, NS 6920, NS 6963, NS 8025, NS 8102 - 8104 & NS 8114

Is it possible to stick the lens through the chain link mesh to get a clear picture?
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Usually, not always. That's why I've always kept a selection of lenses with a 52mm front thread; they work well to shoot through fences. So do some newer mirrorless camera systems, which use smaller lenses that will fit through larger fence links.

34E went by me earlier this evening with the CofG unit. It was dark so no pics today, but last spring I caught that same unit here at Smilax Rd, CD 447 near Plainfield (just east of New Carlisle), IN, in the late afternoon and got some decent photos of it.
I hadn't seen any of the heritage units in awhile, and thought I'd lost my Iron Horse Whispering skills, but I guess this evening I got them back!

I caught it again yesterday near New Carlisle, IN. leading NS train #67W. It was dark and drizzly out though.

Hopefully NS won't play bumpercars with this unit like they did with the last NS Heritage Unit I spotted in August.
I saw the C of G unit in August a few hours before it was involved in an incident in the yard, and last I knew it had a "Do Not Occupy" sticker on it.
