Holland to Chicago - 9/10/05
Took family for a day to Chicago aboard Amtrak 371 on 9/10/05.
About 8am a CP train coming from Chicago had 20 minutes to get in the Holland siding before Amtrak arrived.

Our train waited before the St. Joe swing bridge for a CP train (sorry no video). We also waited for Q326 which was only minutes behind the CP train.

Here we overtake Q327. This train passed the last Cannonball out of Muskegon at Waverly Yard the night before. Power was HLCX 6301, CSX 8455 and CSX 2613 with 95 cars in tow.

great report here BB...not long at all. Enjoyed all the videos. The conductor doesn't mind you standing at the rear of the train during the entire commute?

Hey BB great shots! I particularly liked the New Buffalo coal tower and PRR signals and life bridges in E. Chicago over the Calumet. I wish the Michigan Line Amtraks were not push pull so I could do the same thing! I got lucky when I went out west on the SW Chief to California, there were no reefers on the rear of our train so I got my fill of photographing the old semaphores west of Raton on the old ATSF mainline.
Thanks guys a lot for the comments.
The way to Chicago the only thing he said was don't open the sliding door but I wasn't standing the entire commute.railroadfan wrote:The conductor doesn't mind you standing at the rear of the train during the entire commute?
