Yeah, we sure can. PTC brackets as well. Most MQT equipment does not have PTC, as we run an ATCS-based system (with an exemption from the FRA). Much less involved, but I guess you'll need itES44AH wrote:Oh, alright leave the cab on then. One last thing, since the cab will be left in place, can you fit a GPS unit in there with the sets computers? All of our locomotives have GPS (as does the steamers).MQT3001 wrote:We can make it cabless. We originally were going to setup the "brains" of the whole unit in there using the now-obsolete electrical cabinet, but we can put doors there instead. If we left the cab on, it would have quad-doors...ES44AH wrote:Ok, Can you make the whole set weigh 800,000 lbs, We will use it for the coal drag between Baltmore and DC. Also, can the 2nd unit (2nd in set lash-up) be cabless? Or is it already cabless?
We will add ballast to increase the weight. Much of it will be done in the GP9 unit to make each section the same weight, since each will be capable of the same horsepower.

Re: GP35/9-3SLGs
First one, MQT 1, due out of the shops Saturday, then from the Paint booth late Sunday. Will run for one week around the MQT system as two more, MQTX 2 and the MNTC electric unit are built.

Re: GP35/9-3SLGs
#1 has been in testing in Wyoming Yard Service and as a heavy local (up to 4,000 trailing tons). Crews are loving her. We are making a few minor tweaks, and will be made permanent. #2 came out today, and will do testing in heavy yard service up in Alpena.MQT3001 wrote:First one, MQTX 1, due out of the shops Saturday, then from the Paint booth late Sunday. MNTC electric will be out Sunday, but might be held back a few days to test and correct any kinks found there or by the other two units, then it will be shipped to the MNTC via the CIL

Re: GP35/9-3SLGs
The MNTC electric unit is completed, and ready to go. Purchasing agreement means any changes to the GP35/9SLG design are covered under warranty, so if we find any other problems we'll fix them. #1 & 2 are both running well, and we have made around 20 tweaks to them, MNTC's unit, and future locomotives.
MNTC's locomotive will go west tomorrow on LGRRBUF, and should be picked up by the Monon Transfer to head down to the CSX/MNTC Joint Chicago Line.

The GP35/9-3SLG is working great on our line between DC and Baltimore. The only issue is the circuit breaker keeps over loading

Re: GP35/9-3SLGs
Our engineering dept received the call about that, looks like the problem is we installed too small a circuit breaker. Easy DIY repair, new one is in the mail.ES44AH wrote:The GP35/9-3SLG-EL is working great on our line between DC and Baltimore. The only issue is the circuit breaker keeps over loading

Okay, we'll order the parts and prepare to strip the units down. We'll probably send them east with the Steamfest Stuff once that's over.ES44AH wrote:good thanks, other than that, it runs smoothly and pulls like nothing else we have. In fac we would like to purchase 2 more.
