Outside of Pomona Yard, preparing for entrance, is 20E, a light engine move.
Dispatch: "Your clear over to track 3."
20E: "Roger."
*20 seconds later*
20E: "Alright we have a little problem."
20E Conductor: "Uh, we just hit the ground hard."
Dispatch: "Where?"
20E: "Switch over to track 3."
20E Conductor: "We hit it hard!"
Dispatch: "We'll get a crane and a truck out to you."

CSX E88 (Foreign light power move to Richmond from Rocky Mount) had something strange. Does anyone know about these two?

Re: Carolina Southern
They are TORCO locomotives, a SD35 and a SD40. TORCO stands for the Toledo Ore Company Railroad, a C&O subsidiary. The SD35 is one of 3 that were based in Toledo, and the only 3 engines to have sublettering other than B&O or C&O (in reality B&O, C&O, WM). They would go the Cumberland Shops (now M&N locomotive shops). TORCO now uses some of CSX's older power. Thats all i know.CarolinaSouthern wrote:CSX E88 (Foreign light power move to Richmond from Rocky Mount) had something strange. Does anyone know about these two?

Ok. One of my friends (Jerry is his name, I think) said that he found out about the two TORCO units. The New Chessie, which is owned by CSX and M&N, bought them for their roster. He seems to know everything. Maybe he was just telling a story....... or maybe he was right. You would have to confirm it though.

Re: Carolina Southern
Unless CSX is giving them to us, we didnt get the SD35s. Our roster is made of GEVos (ES44ACs), SD70ACes, Ex-CR C40-8ws (from CSX), GP40-2s (including GM50), and 2 GP9s. Maybe they have them put aside for us then. The M&N is in charge of what engines we get and CSX gives them to us. If what your friend said is true, CSX might just give us one, if its still in Chessie colors (old Chessie).CarolinaSouthern wrote:Ok. Re: Carolina Southern
Ok. Same SD70MAC lead another power move into our Pomona Yard, and dropped of TORC 997. The engineer said he was to drop off the SD40 for us. We got into contact with CSX, and they said they were giving away older locomotives, because the EPA is saying they have too many locomotives producing too much pollution. They said they had to get rid of them, so they gave it to us. Hmm. I guess we can use it, as if we have enough locomotives on maintenance.

Re: Carolina Southern
Oh, sorry. We asked CSX and the M&N about the TORCO SD35. If TORCO doesnt want it, you can have it. We arent using vey many old Chessie units. the oldest units on our roster is a pair of ex-WM GP9s and a few GP40s.

Re: Carolina Southern
That would be nice. We need it for some of the unit coal trains we are getting via NS at Asheville, NC. Thank you.

Re: Carolina Southern
Your welcome. If you get it cleaned up, we'll send one of our newer units down for a photo op, old chessie with new. If you do keep the Sd35's original Chessie scheme, she was a ex-C&O unit.
