lakeshoredave wrote:awesome stuff guys. what is the website where you can find all of the locations of the heritage units?
Here's a thread on NS's iPhone and Android apps to get the locations, along with a website to track: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24916

Also, we've been updating locations here as well, but probably won't be as useful as the official NS one will be: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=23848

Only problem with the NS app, is the person's using its ability to know what the heck they are talking about. Do they actually know where they are? Do they actually know what line they are on. Do they know the direction. Do they actually know the train symbol. ECT.

We know how well most railfans are with that info, so I would only believe about half of what it says until you can confirm it with someone who actually knows.

at least with the apple products it should use "your current location" so from an iPone it should bee from where they report the engine.

Only 1 notable unit in the last year, CSX 2506, which was in YN1 when I saw her in March. I saw CSX 5001 (CSX DIVERSITY) the year before that at the same place: The Thornapple River Bridge. 2 years on railfanning on the birthday, two notable units.

I shot the original NS unit in Wyandotte on a nd coal train, shot the LV & RDG units in Wyandote & Rouge north on a coal train and then again sbd in Monroe. Shot the CNJ on the point on a wbd coal train at Vickers, and last week shot the Conrail unit as a rear end pusher on a coal train on the Evansville Western near Mt Vernon, Il. Saw the Central of Georgia unit in Melvindale but couldn't get a good shot of it. These heritage units have given me more reason to go trackside on the NS !

I have seen them all, and have shot about 1/2 of them leading trains and a couple when they were fresh out of Altoona.

No NS heritage units for me.
We have been getting AMTK 156 on the Pere Marquette recently, and twice in the past week I've seen AMTK 822 on the Lakeshore Ltd.

If anyone wants to 'see what I've seen' here's a link to the Blurb book that I created of my NS Heritage unit experience in the last year including Spencer, roster shots of all the units and the 10 I've caught on road trains. The Veterans unit is also included at the end. Here's the link (and you can preview the entire book):
