Today from Jersey City, NJ.
Jersey City, NJ- Today at 3:00pm the inaugural joint Appalachian Western/TSCR Jersey City-Detroit TOFC train left AW's Jersey City intermodal yard. "Today is a great day. We [AW & TSCR] showed how two railroads can join together to open up a new market that benefits both railroads and the customers." AW's CEO said during a speech at the ceremony. He then took the throttle and guided the train out of the yard limits.
The symbol for the first train was Q JYCPIT1 4 with the second TOFC train, Q JYCPIT2 4, leaving 30 minutes later at 3:30pm. Next train leaves at 6:00pm.

Sounds great! Sorry I couldnt be there, I was out in Chilicothe, OH overseeing some MoW work, but TSCR 8902 is waiting to lead this train solo. We picked the most special unit on the roster to lead the first train. :)

Ok then we'll just stick 8902 in front of them so they can make it to Detroit. BN665-34L is leaving Detroit with TSCR 2128 and TSCR 4567, both are AC motors.

TC, I pushed back the start of our joint Indy to New York intermodal service to this coming Sunday July 8th due to recovery from all the storm damage around here. We will have everything ready to roll for your new service, including shining up a pair of our locomotives for the first train, that day :)

We completly understand and support yor decision to push the date back. Service on our main lines has been restored and the rest isn't critical so we could spare some of our equipment and employees if you need help with cleaning up or track work.

Been a long time since I posted on the Appalachian Western but recently our Roanoke heavy repair and rebuild shops outshopped C39-8R 3900, the first of 15 rebuilt C39-8, for Eastern Locomotive Leasing.
Image
Also recently outshopped was the first of 40 Natural Gas powered C39-8N.

AW is planning on testing a four of the natural gas powered units between Mullens, WV and Charelston, WV. Another four will be tested between Chicago, IL and Marion, OH. The units will operate in pairs with a fuel tender in between.
