ATSF to return to the rails

Postby sd70accsxt700 on Fri Mar 16, 2012 8:45 am

Word on the street from a good source says that RPCX 6690 & 6691 F7A's that were sent to Greenville to be rebuilt last year are close to compleate. Motive Power & Equipment at the request of the owner will not let anyone take photos of them, but once they are compleate, there will be a public showing of them with the owner. Not sure where they will be headed, but they are being repainted into ATSF Warbonnet Passenger colors.

RPCX 6690 was built as SP 6443 in Feb 1953, and RPCX 6691 was built as T&NO 365 in May of 53'.
The LAST T&NO F7A.

Sure hope they don't butcher the Warbonnet scheme.

I would rather see them in the Black Widow Image paint scheme than the warbonnet,

If I could choose I would turn them into razor blades and run everything with Gevos.

They were moved to Galvestion, TX last I had heard. So I would guess somewhere in the immediate area.

Thanks, for those of us who are Santa Fe fans I'd hate to see an un-original paint job get butchered. The question I really have is, I understand the Galvestion Museum was and is more Santa Fe oriented, but the museum has a rare artifact. Can't name one more survivng T&NO F7A. so why slap a faux Warbonnet on a treasure like that. Also, as a Santa Fe buff, how is the museum going to reproduce the stainless steel carbody that the real last 2 ATSF F7A's at the California State Railroad Museum own have?

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Two F7As painted in Santa Fe’s famous Warbonnet livery will be unveiled in Greenville on June 9. The two former Southern Pacific units, which will be numbered Santa Fe 315 and 316, are owned by the Galveston Railroad Museum and are being overhauled by Motive Power & Equipment Solutions Inc. BNSF Railway owns the trademark to the AT&SF Warbonnet, and has licensed its use to the museum for these two engines.

The locomotives replace another pair of F7s the museum owned, former SP/Texas Limited Nos. 100 and 200, which were severely damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008 and scrapped.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time and is limited to 200 attendees. To RSVP, send an email to Santefef7unveiling@bellsouth.net. Include the following information: Name, company, address, state, phone number, and email address.

Pathetic. On so many levels its not even funny. Casey got a good photo, that isn't the problem. MP&E as well as Galveston Railroad Museum should be ashamed. They have dishonored MANY former Santa Fe employees as well as any credible reputation to the real Santa Fe F Units that exist at California State Railroad Museum. Going to strike Galveston from my list of Museums to visit.

How is that too far? Explain to me why when I say they are a monstrosity and its a very large slap in the face to the real set at California State as well as former Management and Employees of the Santa Fe who cared for the real things. They are painted so someone in Galveston can "Claim they have a pair of Warbonnets"... when what they really have is a SP and the last SSW F7A. I have already sent them a message and then sent California State a message asking them how I can support the real ones and not the fakes. And YES, I ask everyone to do the same.

Its just like going to Elkhart to see NYC 3001 painted, lettered and being passed off as Santa Fe 3450... its WRONG on SO MANY LEVELS, and there are certain items that certain railroads ordered, and its wrong of every Santa Fe prototype I can think of: NO Stainless Steel Carbody, wrong horn placement, etc. Heck, I'll take MAL 725 as a better representation of an Erie Lackawanna F7A than those 2 do at being "Santa Fe Warbonnet F7A's"!

PLEASE.... Tell me that you can tell the differences between the REAL ATSF 347C (California State) Versus the fake...

All it is is a PR thing for Motive power and equipment... It will be ok. I know I'm not chasing those anytime soon and never plan in going out of my way to see those ugly units. all I'm saying is relax and let them have there "toy train" nothing to get too upset about... But I see what your saying TW it is not an ATSF engine and it will never be considered EVEN CLOSE to the ones at cal state.

It's not even the paint scheme that they really messed up (other then they'd silver). It was using an SP unit to make a "fake" Santa fe unit!!!!!!

And I feel bad for who paid to see those debut
