Jochs you're back! I Miss the Q326/Q327/N903/E949 updates!

Private drive somewhere along the Grand Rapids Sub (I'd say south of Grand Jct)

There are no wigwags that I know of in Lower Michigan that are still in use. There are some on display in Grand Haven and Durand.

I thought it might be a private crossing where a railfan put that up on their driveway's crossing of CSX

New guess: CP Main, wisconson

Galena, IL on the CN/IC, fromer IC, former CC&P, former IC.

Looks like someone painted it and added an electronic bell to it too.

Yes, that is correct. The crossing is located at milepost 165.74 on the CN/IC. according to the signal box there with emergency contact info.

This is near the Mississippi River, and the CP main runs down the MN/IA side there (on the old DM&E)

I said Wisconsin Central was close but no cigar because Wisconsin is a short drive north of Galena...14 miles to East Dubuque, IL, then 3 miles to the WI/IL stateline.

I think the electronic bell looks out of place, but at least the wig-wag is still there, as they are becoming scarce because they have moving parts that are obsolete.

Wisconsin line is much closer than that. Maybe 5 to 10 miles due north, if that far. My Mom's side is from Platteville, about ~25 to 30 miles from Galena. When going over there we'd take 20 to just west of Galena before heading north the Hazel Green, Cuba City, and then Platteville.

Though long gone, the CNW used to come into Galena from the north. Its been gone long enough that it is even difficult to trace on Google Earth. Also hard to believe, they used to run steam boats up the river to Galena back in 'tha day' before it filled with sediment.

Could you be referring to the wig-wag that used to be near Vernon on the TSBY? That one is now gone, knocked down by a vehicle a few years ago.

I was looking at directions on the map that we drove...lol. It is actually a 7 mile drive to the stateline...US 20 3 miles to IL 84, then 4 miles north to WI.

You're just in my old 'stomping' grounds. It is too bad the old CGW is gone, that NW corner of Illinois used to be quite interesting with the features and the railroads. Now its just BNSF and CN. Before, CGW going across the state, CB&Q along the river, IC, and then CNW coming into Galena from the lead fields of SW Wisconsin. Once you crossed the state line, MILW had branches all over the place.
