High Point Locomotive Shops

Unread post by legostudios34 »

The High Point Locomotive Shops are the shops for the High Point and Rome Railroad located at High Point, GA. The High Point shops also construct and rebuild locomotives. This topic will be mainly used for locomotive sales, however, important HPR maintence updates will be posted here also. Use this topic to place orders and get price quotes.

Locomotives that we build (current)
B38AC - Tier 4 Compliant - 4 axles - AC Traction Motors - 3800 Horsepower - EMD 710ECO engine
B38AC GP60 rebuild - Same as B38AC, albeit much cheaper if GP60 is supplied
45-CWAC - Tier 3 compliant - 6 axles - AC Traction Motors - Wide Nose - 4500 Horsepower - HPLB* A-16 engine
45-CWDC - Tier 3 compliant - 6 axles - DC Traction Motors - Wide Nose - 4500 Horsepower - HPLB A-16 engine
S2299-BDC - Tier 3 compliant - 4 axles - DC Traction Motors - 2299 Horsepower (so as to be classified as a switching locomotive) - HPLB A-10 engine
We will also rebuild most locomotives if sent to us along with specifications for the rebuild unit. Cost will depend on original unit and after rebuild specs.

*HPLB stands for High Point Locomotive Builders

HPR No. 501, B38AC has been completed. It was rebuilt from HPR 501, GP60. This completes the current HPR GP60 rebuild project. No GP60s remain on the HPR roster.

One 45-CWAC and one 45CWDC have been completed and are ready for testing. They are numbered as HPRX 45 (45-CWAC) and HPRX 4500 (45-CWDC). They are painted in the standard HPR scheme. Additional info is in the HPRX topic, along with information on their tour/short term lease. After the tour they will be transfered to HPR with numbers 45 and 46. See the HPRX topic for more info.

B38AC HPRX 3800 has been completed. It is in Standard HPR red and grey with HPRX lettering. It will be available for lease after activation, which will take place at High Point. Also, 2 new 45-CWDCs are under construction for HPRX as HPRX's current 45-CWs will be given to HPR after they are returnrd from PC.

Penn Central would like to place an order for 2 45CWDC's, to be numbered 5018-5019, and 2 CW45AC's, to be numbered 5020-5021. For a paint scheme, make them look like this:

PC is very pleased with the demonstrators and is looking forward to doing business with HPLB.

Awesome PC! The DC units are 2.7 million a piece and the AC units are 3.4 million a piece, including paint. We will have them ready by July 30th. How do you want them to get up there?

You can send them via NS to Cincinnati like you did with the demonstrators and they can interchange them to me there. My official will be down there after July 4th to pay for the units and sign any necessary paperwork; he'll be driving there since he told me he wants to detour over to Spencer, NC that week to take in the NS Heritage locomotive fest first :)

Hey legostudio, Penn Central is placing an order for 50 45CWDC and 50 45CWAC locomotives for delivery in 2nd quarter of 2013(so basically have them ready anytime after May 1, 2013). We can take care of financing after the 1st of the year, just wanted to get my order on the books for next year right now.

That sound great. We'll have to get started now if we want 100 units built that fast, we're not exactly a big shop.

You have time, they don't all need to be built by May 1, 2013, you can start delivering them anytime after that date through the end of that year, at least that's how it works with the loco builders in real life.
