Windsor to Detroit, "turn down that noise!"

Apparently Detroit's answer so far is "go have some poutine and chill out, eh?"

Speaking of, yes, now Wendy's has gone there...

Strange.

I grew up within earshot of a air national guard base, gun club, and railroad tracks. Visitors would comment how noisy the area was. I never noticed it unless someone said something

Isn't it enough that they get to dump their garbage here? Now we have to turn down the noise?

I often hear that sentiment and it's weird to me. I grew up in the eastern flight path of Lansing's airport and I never stopped noticing the jets taking off or flying over. Constantly hearing guns being fired off in the distance would irritate the crap out of me and I doubt I'd ever get used to it.

I grew up right next to Gerald Ford airport, I-96 and the CSX Plymouth sub in Grand Rapids. There was a lot of noise, but it never really "bothered" me (I loved hearing trains :) ) much. That being said, I always heard and was aware of it. Pretty hard to tune out jets taking off and landing, trucks and cars on rumble strips and blaring locomotive horns.

Heh. I remember after growing up in a quiet Akron suburb I could barely sleep the first couple months away at College at CWRU in Cleveland on the edge of University Circle between general traffic noise and 24/7 ambulances going to the various hospitals around there. After a couple months I tuned it out and for the next 3 1/2 years I didn't even notice it at all.

Let it be known that on May 2, 2012, at approximately 12:45pm, I first heard (well, read) the word "poutine." Until this day I'd never laid my eyes on that arrangement of letters, nor heard the word spoken. I guess you learn something new every day. :)

actually it was noticed in River Rouge Area, but no one is willing to find it... And its fairly bad that people are seeking legal advice to find out what it is. I know of a few people who have hear/felt he noise/vibrations, and they thought it was at first like a small Earthquake, but it kept going.... also this Rumble stuff has been going on since last summer (when canadian news broke of it)...

What amazes me is that of all the people on the Detroit side who said they didn't hear it, none of them were reported as going over to Windsor to take a listen for themselves. I guess it was just easier to remain in the U.S. and deny that a noise existed.

This. I grew up under the landing pattern for runway 4R at O'Hare. Having planes fly over every 30-45 seconds makes someone learn how to tune them out real fast.

We don't get CBC on the west side of the state. I only ever heard about it after I moved to Midland.

the noise from what i heard from others, gets louder and quieter from days to days. also its not constant and varies from days to nights. The Salt Mines were ruled out as the explosions are done at set times during the morning and afternoons in both Detroit and in Windsor.

I love the sound of distant gunfire.

And, who can deny the sheer beauty of the 15 foot blue flame downrange from a 44 mag. at sunset.
Didn't you used to be somebody?

Don't remember, I'll ask my wife.

Channel 7, WXYZ investigators are tracking down the mysterious humming noise tonight at 11. It'll be interesting to find out what it is.
