Nice video...I like how the vehicles disregard the train even though it's partially in the crossing...

Cool video. Why did the train not honk it's horn?

I am not aware of a "no noise" zone in Iron Mountain. Things are a little different in the country. It seems countryfolk have a little more common sense and don't need to hear a trains horn to know you should stop

If you look, the conductor is riding on the front of the engine. I'm not a railroad employee or rules expert, but I believe if the conductor is watching/flagging the crossing the train doesn't need to use the horn. I assume that this is to help with the conductor's hearing.

From Greg Bunce a engineer at E&LS
The city of Iron Mountain got a exemption from the FRA concerning the use of whistles. We are not required to blow the whistle at any crossing that has crossing flashers. This also applies to the CN crossings in Iron Mountain.

Nice video AARR. Are those orange cars homemade. If not, who makes them? I've never saw ones like that before. Also, who owned the SD9 before the E&LS? I should know that paint scheme. The ELS cars that are loaded look alot longer than ones modelled in at least HO scale. What are there lengths approx.? Anyway great job on the vid of a somewhat obscure railroad. :D

Video is from Wally Colegrove.

Don't know who made the orange gons but Greg Bunce said they are captive to E&LS orginiation and destination and cannot be shipped offline.

Original owner of SD9 was Mineral Range. E&LS acquired 5 SD9's and 2 SW8's from them quite a few years back.

I think the pulpwood cars with side stakes are 53' long but I may be wrong as they look longer.
