Is that they are leaving GR at 5am or they are called in Chicago at 5am?

Also, does anyone know if they will be doing a restriced speed, and if so, what speed?

They deadhead to Chicago, then the crew has to be rested so the train will probably leave overnight tonight and come thru in the early morning.

K24228 called for 20:00. UP 7795 and UP6237 for power.
Makes for an early AM arrival at Wyoming. I have no idea what MQT will do and it also needs its 1000 mile inspection at Wyoming. Look for a daylight AM departure then I would assume....BUT DON'T HOLD ME TO THAT!

ugh they left the UP power on. I hope they dump it in GR or at least put an MQT unit in as leader

Thank you for the update :D

Why you no wanna see UP power on MQT?? Something different! REAL UP power, not old UP power! :)

Train shows picking up a UP 6670 in St. Louis and was showing as a DPU train, but something tells me not to believe that. UP computer likes to lie a lot when it comes to reporting yes or no for DPU. I don't think the GR guys are DEEP qualified anyhow? Just MANNED helpers, right?

I doubt it is going to go to the MQT any time soon. Lots of cars going around the wye before it does get interchanged though.

Well...I know that, but I was asking if the GR guys are DPU qualified. Better leave that one for someone who knows...

Nope, they are not DPU qualified. The headend power was to be cut off at Barr, and the DPU engine would be the leader to go east.

This is really quite the project! I hadn't really paid attention until this thread started, but these things are gonna be giant! Over 400' tall at the top of the arc of the blade, and they're putting in 56 of them over quite an area of Mason County.

Unless they get to Chicago and CSX gets them up to GR by Sunday morning

WOW! Something isn't right...that makes SENSE! I suppose GR guys aren't qualified Dolton to Cal Park on the Harbor, so that's the next smartest thing to do. Nice to see railroads communicating and catering to one another's needs. I'm surprised UP didn't say "your problem!".

Nope, that's probably not why they did it that way. The problem is you can't get here from there ;) If you get on the IHB eastbound off the UP at Dolton, there's no way to crossover to CSX at Cal Park, as there's no crossovers going from 2-1 eastbound, and they have to be on IHB #1 at Cal Park to get on CSX. They'd have to run via Gibson, then north to Hick, unless they shove backwards at Cal Park to get over to IHB #1.

You'd think I'd know that. Surely, it explains why they did it the way they did. I'm going back to watch baseball now...

They dumperd the UP unit in Wyoming :D and went north with 41 of the loads plus a CH on the end so Mr. Conductor could ride the 3 or so mile shove to get on the NE wye insted of the West Wye. Due to the turn, 3001 was leading both Northbound AND southbound :D
Finally cleared North Park street at 17:10 or so, probably going to not make it farther than Sparta tonight before the crew dies.
