It is that much darker. Casy for some reason cant edit or take the photos properly. All the photos of it in action have shown it is the correct color blue. If I was NS I would not want my Offical Photos butchered so badly.

Very nice! I'm impressed with how well these older schemes have been adapted to modern power. It used to be neat to imagine what things would have looked like without some of the mergers and bankruptcies of the last 40 or 50 years. Now we don't have to imagine, we can see them. Kudos to NS for this whole program. I like their take on making them true to a prototype rather than UPs approach of coming up with something totally new.

I have to say this is a very close tie to the NKP Unit. The only trivial problem I have is the locomotive number placement on the long hood instead of the lower front like PRR E's. At any cost, looks sharp!!

Its not a trivial problem, look up photos, and you will see it is a correct paint job. Sharks, mostly were painted in this paint, but also a few others.

As for the paint details, IIRC this is called the Shark scheme in the Pennsy world.

It just occurred to me that the only people happier than us railfans are the guys in the paint shops. They get to do something different and artsy. I bet it is a nice change of pace.

Do you supposed the were able to dig through the stores at Juniata and find a few gallons of Tuscan Red?

I have to say the Interstate RR scheme is interesting, prototypical based on the IRR's Alco's, but to me looks like fake railroad turned out in the 80's by Tyco or the like.

NS is really kicking some ass on this whole project. Can't wait for the Wabash and Lehigh Valley to roll out!

That's what I said Matt. I said "The scheme is interesting, and prototypical for the Interstate Alco RS. To me, if I didn't know any better (AND I DO) it looks more like a fake scheme someone like Tyco would have produced back in the 80's for a kids trainset.

Probably the best idea to come down the tracks in...a looooooong time. Yet, people are complaining about this and that not being "correct". Lets see, the idea behind the heritage idea was to adapt the paint scheme to modern locomotives. This means just the paint, and not things like windows, number boards headlights. These are locomotive based, not paint based. Placement of these things were as a result of the railroads requirements or needs, or because this was how the manufactures only made them.

Enjoy the ride the NS has so graciously afforded us as railfans. These really weren't done for the average person. Most people don't care what the paint scheme is, or if it was a E-Unit going past them as they are being held up from their destination. Just that they had to stop for a stupid train.

The paint schemes are great. Who cares if there are a couple of minor differences, atleast NS isn't doing Heritage engines like UP and changing the paint schemes quite a bit.

IDK what any of the old scheme looked like because I wasn't around for any of them...I'm just happy to have the chance to see something other than just another horsehead...
