Penn Central Southern Region

Unread post by conrailman75 »

Penn Central Southern Region controls lines in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois and consists of the Columbus, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and St. Louis divisions. This region pretty much duplicates the old original Penn Central's Southern Region, but retains a whole bunch of lines that got abandoned. I will try to post train symbols as I discuss each division and the lines controlled by it. Each division will be a separate reply by me in this thread, so keep reading :)

Re: Penn Central Southern Region

Unread post by conrailman75 »

I lost my papers on the Cincinnati division, so I'm going to by memory here.

The Penn Central Cincinnati division is headquartered in Cincinnati, OH and the largest yard is down in Cincinnati. Here is the list of lines(no train symbol lists due to not being able to find the paperwork)

C&X Branch(ex PRR)
runs Cincinnati to Xenia
all single track, dispatched by trainorders

Carlisle Branch(ex NYC)
runs West Manchester to Carlisle
all single track, dispatched by trainorders

Mainline Dayton to Cincinnati(ex NYC)
runs Dayton to Sharonville yard Cincinnati
double track, all CTC
shared trackage rights with NS

Mainline Cincinnati to Chicago(ex NYC)
runs Cincinnati to Indianapolis to Kankakee, IL
mostly single track, dispatched by trainorders

Whitewater Running Track(ex NYC)
runs Valley Jct. to Beesons
all single track, dispatched by trainorders

Beesons Branch(ex NKP)
bought from NW back in the 70's
runs Cambridge City to Beesons
all single track, dispatched by Block control

I think that was all the lines in my Cincinnati Division, now I just have to remember what trains ran on what lines and recreate those timetable pages again :)
