DT&I GP15 Repaint

Postby ogauge47 on Thu Apr 05, 2012 8:15 pm

I have always liked the Atlas O GP15- good detail and great price. I picked one up a month ago and painted it up for DT&I. The pilots were not fixed on this model because I am anticipating some street running and tight industrial trackage on my future layout and ant something which can navigate that. Or maybe I was just too lazy to fix them.
This (I hope) will be my last fantasy locomotive, I don't know how much more heat I can get from the DT&I modelers board

I love it but it looks a little naked like something is missing but I don't know what :? Weathering maybe???

How did you decide on number 731?

731 was a safe distance between the 400-series GP40s and the 900-series switchers.
With the weathering, the prototype engine is pushing it on my modeling era, so it would be brand new on my railroad.

Nose bell!

That's it!

OG47, the nose on your GP20 (which I love BTW) looks a little short. How did you kitbash it?

I looked through your pictures and love your roster!

The GP20 is an MTH model. The tooling was made more than 10 years ago and has since been relegated to the 'Railking Scale' line, scale but not as detailed models, many of which are made from older tooling.

Boy! That's a GOOD LOOKING fleet of large scale power!!!
Now, hopefully you guys can answer a question for me.. What is the proper color for DT&I / AA Orange? I'm getting ready to do a couple AA '35's in HO scale and my GTW / CN orange looks too red to me. I'd like to use either Scalecoat or Accupaint if possible. Not too thrilled with Floquil/PS as of late...... :?

Thanks, Todd

I have been using Testors Hugger Orange lacquer. But there is no real exact DT&I/AA orange. Use whatever looks right to you.
