Dang, would have been nice to see the Nickel Plate out this early.

Though I guess it makes sense to get the heritage units of the 3 large direct predecessors done first.

All of the ex Conrail stuff got PRR marks after the split, some still have them. Several NS engines still have small CNOTP, NW, CG, or SOU reporting marks too.

That and all of the heritage units are supposed to be new deliveries...

That would be a former CR GP40-2 which would have had PRR sublettering applied before and after it was repainted. Probably some employee doing that lettering for nostalgia now as it was repainted in 2008 after NS had stopped using sublettering.

Trains Magazine for May 2012 has an entire article about the 18 units. They said the rest of them should be out by NS's 30th birthday on June 1st. They also said their lone heritage unit -- GP59 4610 painted in Southern green was repainted to make way for the new fleet. The article also said that NS considered other railroads as well, and finally came to the conclusion that they must today operate some of the predecessors' former track. This kicked out New Haven and the Providence & West Virginia. The SD70's should be ready in April.

Any word on where the Southern unit is?
Funding for rocketry has obviously been cut when rockets are built with cardboard, plastic bottles, and a pumpkin knife.

They did a great job. Nice to see this as one of the first ones done afterall.

I see it doesn't have any NS reporting mark, nor the small "NYC&STL" that would go on the nose. Not fully done yet?

Edit: This pic of it MDH posted in chat shows an NS reporting mark on the other side of it
