Derailment on UP.

While listening to WGN radio on the way home, they reported that Metra's UP line was running behind because of a derailment this morning. I'm not sure where the derailment was or what line it was on. I would think if it was the old CNW line they would have said Northwestern Line. Anyone else have any information?

There are three Metra UP lines: West, Northwest, and North. They are all ex-CNW.

The "big railroad" (Geneva Sub) is the West Line.

It was a derailment in the Waukegan coach yards, which is on the UP North Line.

CP derailed 7 cars at Cragin Friday morning. A nice write up and photos are on the Chicago Tribune website, but its mostly because it effected Metra trains.

One of the articles also claimed it was a 727 car train that was supposed to stop at Big Timber Road!
