The Toledo St. Louis & Chicago Railway was formed in 1909 when a line to Chicago was needed from Cleveland. They started out with two 2-4-2's when the line wa completed in 1920. The construction was put on hold due to financial issues in 1910. In 1940 the B&O started on a line from Tontogany to North Baltimore. The line would be acquired by the TSt.L&C in 1972. While manifest traffic was heavy on the line the occasion coal train from the PRR came up to Cleveland and needed to go westward. Part 1 of 3.

The 50's brought major changes for the TSt.L&C. Most of the F7A/B's were replaced by E8A/B's and GP9's. Many of these GP9's and E8's are still in service today along side AC44's and Dash 9's. The B&O style CPL's became more plentiful along the line and passenger service started it's steady demise that completely terminated passenger service in the 1980's and returned in 2003. New Alco's C630's(all were scrapped in the 1990's) were purchased in the 1960's and became the new E8 along with GP30's(still in service). The 1970's was when the TSt.L&C, a thriving class 1, purchased more than 40 SD40-2's numbers 4628-4668. In the late 1970's the TSt.L&C purchased 36 SD45-2's numbered 7693-7726. The early 80's was when the new SD50 was purchased. 20 of them numbered 5921-5941. The late 90's had a bunch of new locos. 1994, 40 new C40-8W's numbered 6013-6053 and 20 C40-8C's numbered 4028-4048. In 1996 25 SD60M's were purchased numbered 8099-9024. In 1999 10 SD80MAC's numbered 3823-3833. 1999 was also the year when the railroad bought 10 AC4400CW's numbered 9000-9010. Part 2 of 3.

In 2000 30 C44-9W's were purchased numbered 9111-9141 and 15 SD70 standard cabs numbered 2938-2953. In 2003 the passenger service between Cleveland and Chicago was returned to the line with E8A/B's nnumbered 23-49 pulling the trains, the TSt.L&C runs passenger trains much faster than AMTRAK's Lake Shore #49.
Passenger trains are:

#92 Lake Erie Limited -Chicago to Cleveland
#245 North Bayou Limited -St. Louis to Chicago
#649 Lowland Limited -Cleveland to Chicago

A look at the new paint scheme, not much has changed but the red above the white strip and the different font.

2401 in 2003. This was the only unit with yellow stripes on the back and no stripes on the front. All others had red stripes on both ends.

TSt.L&C 4638(SD40-2) was the last TSt.L&C unit to not have ditch lights. As of today it now has low ditch lights.

TSt.L&C 33W, an intermodal double stack from Cleveland to Chicago, with TSt.L&C 9112, TSt.L&C 49, and TSt.L&C 6032 with 49 doublestacks and 32 single container well cars. The train excelerated to 69 MPH right outside of Tontogany at MP 299.4. The train is currently passing through Liberty Center, Ohio at MP 325.3 (73 MPH).

I'm currently researching that. I have the whole line planned out on google maps and so far we have a couple of plants that can have rail service,ill post a list when I'm done with all of them, locals will be made accordingly.
