Back to scanning instead of being locked on a channel. Adjusted the schelch a bit, so let me know if it's not picking up engine chatter from as far away.

FYI, scanner feed is down this morning. Tried to get on it, and appears my PC in the basement isn't firing up correctly. Rebooted a couple times, no dice. Hope to get time to work on it tonight to find out why it's not running.

Turns out it wasn't a problem with my PC itself, but my free dynamic dns service decided to ditch my hostname so now I have a new address to connect to the scanner feed. I updated the three links at the beginning of this thread, but the new address is railroadfan.dyndns.org instead of the old railroadfan.ath.cx. Please update your bookmarks.

Will likely have worse reception today, as last nights storm toppled my antenna tower over. Thankfully antenna, tower, and coax look fine. Just need a few new wood screws and some zip ties. If I can get to the store tonight, I'll get it repaired.

Antenna is upright again. Put a couple larger screws in, and used metal clamps instead of zipties to hold the pole to the railing. Let's hope that'll keep the pole in place. Should have bought another extension to get it higher while I had it down, bah, oh well.

Sounding 5X5 here in Grandville. Just hear P37010 call Vreisland and heard Q33410 go through the detector at Clarksville.

If thats the case, maybe it should fall over more often. Good Job getting it back up within 24 hours, in the snow!

And thanks to the pole for missing your grill and your table, or Mrs. Admin may have not allowed it to go back up.

Changed the scanner to scan using narrowband since that's what CSX is running on now. Anyone know if CN, Grand Elk, or Marquette Rail have done the same?

Is the CSX yard channel still off? I think it might be helpful in being able to tell when trains are about to leave.....but you guys might know more....

if you like hearing the "CSXT 2....6....5....9.... Brake pipe fully charged..." then sure, the road ch, and the carmen are prolly better indicators of train departure readiness than the remotes in the yard.

So why is it sometimes you can hear that on the road channel....is that when sayvthe west side job is running with remotes?

Yes, if Y297 or whichever RC job ventures out of the yard, they're going to be on the road channel.
