New MSU 1964 - Where Is It

Unread post by flafiretwo »

Perhaps this train has brought a group to MSU for a football game ?????

Don't remember the event and I'm not sure about the location. Could it be the siding to the 'old' power plant off Shaw Road ????

Thanks for any comments, Larry
MSU Student 1964-1967 , My Dorm was Wonders Hall, C & O Operators at Trowbridge were still hooping the Train Orders..first to engineer and then to the Conductor on the rear !!!!

The architecture of the building on the left looks familiar, and that odd structure in the background is quite interesting. This will definitely be a tough one.

Wait a minute...NOT TOUGH AT ALL! This is the old spur to the MSU powerplant. In the background somewhere would be 1225. And that "odd structure" is Spartan Stadium's upper deck:

It couldnt be a football special.... I dont think Michigan State has that many fans to fill the whole train  ...... Unless they were playing Big Blue 8)......

I figured if I looke at his photo long enough I'd figure out what that odd structure was in the background. And then it came to me! I'll get a REAL "Now" comparison shot the next time I go to MSU.

That's not a before and after. That's a random shot of Spartan Stadium that I found, just for reference to show what the structure was in the distant background of Larry's shot. A real "now" shot is coming soon, either from me or Gregg (or anyone else who wants to beat us to it. haha). :D
