The Genesee Yard is still a favorite spot of mine to stop and watch trains; they usually pass through about the time I'm out of work, between 4:30-5:30 most nights. I'll park in either Walgreen's or across the street in Scientific Brake, both good spots with a view.

That's a cool paint scheme. Do any locos still exist with that paint?

Wow, look at how bright and clean that switcher looks. I have a Lionel GT switcher in my kitchen (displayed on a shelf over the sink) that looks just like that.

The old Huron & Eastern was cool, wasn't it? Based off the old PM/C&O that was on the E7's.

I think a few of the GP38's wore that scheme until 2000 or 2001. I don't think the GP38's they have today are the same ones. I don't know much about HESR, Jon or someone could tell you for sure. The GP9's are gone, that much I know. None of the current HESR units where that scheme anymore.

That was the origonal HESR paint, all 5 GP's got it, and three of the 38's got it, the last 38, was in a RI (red with white stripes) paint. All dissapeard as RA came up with the coporate paint that is on the 38's now (yes they are the same ones). At least one GP 9 remains in that paint, on a short line out west somewhere. The GP, in Greenville, on blocks is the 104 in my photo there (JT) that you commented on, that is now in the Red Silver and Blue.

Ahh yes, the mysteriously "floating" locomotive in Greenville:

 Got that picture in 2003, I believe. It just amazes me how that thing looks like it's floating on air. I think David Copperfield was hiding over behind the nearby building.

I thought there were two still in the old HESR paint scheme- 102 and 103 on a shortline or tourist railroad somewhere south of Kansas City. There were photos of 'em on RRpicturearchives a while back. Unless they've since been repainted, that's somewhere I'd like to take a railfan trip to in the next couple of years...

If your locomotive is up on blocks, your shortline might be a redneck :)
