Lutzke: Williamston train depot is not the first
It once served as the hub of business and social activity in Williamston. At its peak activity, it was surrounded by about a dozen buildings or structures. And despite earlier reports, the Williamston train depot, now preserved, is not the original building which came with the introduction of the railroad through this area.

The first depot was built by the owners of the Detroit, Lansing and Lake Michigan Railroad when the track appeared in town in the summer of 1871...
