I am curious why the railroad crew is waiting while the cars are being unloaded.

I didn’t realize that “just in time” delivery existed in 1936.

There is also a lot of great photos of steam locomotives from Michigan shortline and logging railroads as well as a host of other railroad photos.

There are at least a dozen photos of this train wreck from September 1940.
Some show the building did suffer some damage like this one:

AFAIK it is gone. That area would be a nice place to walk sometime. I think there are still some yard tracks, ties and artifacts in those weeds.

It's been a while since I was down that way
Interesting that the building has maintained its appearance for over 100 years now, probably one of the last industrial buildings left in the city.

Upon looking at the location on Google Maps (42°16'04.8"N 83°44'43.0"W) I believe I can see a bit of the metal table peaking out from the overgrowth. Doesn't look publicly accessible however. I wonder if that area along the tracks is still owned by the railroad.
