At the Boston archives center I was able to copy the company's tax assessment records from 1879 and on. Total value of equipment and inventory.....$1000.00 then, and now?

$1,000 in 1879 → $25,675.90 in 2019

The company also offered Marine and engine room clocks. They made the clock bodies and the clock works were made by Chelsea, Howard, or Seth Thomas.

I'm glad you are enjoying these posts. Enjoy your winter reading and when you are done, you can explain a lot of it to me! I have almost no technical background and am learning things here and there but I have a long long way to go.
