I saw a short clip of a Detroit & Mackinac Alco sitting in the yard at Ann Street in the 80s or 90s. Does anyone have, or can direct me to videos of it actually in service and moving? It would be greatly appreciated.

That would have been when Pinkerton owned it as the Central Michigan. I'm guessing it was before the C&M painted power showed up after start up. It wasn't there long. The C&M engine numbers were 88XX which means 1988. No engine house back then, Idled 24/7 in cold weather.

CMGN began service in September of 1987. Their engines showed up GP38ac's (former GP40's) 8801-8804 and U23b's 8902-8905.

Since Detroit & Mackinac and Central Michigan were both owned by Straits Corp, the power was freely mixed between the two until the D&M was sold off and became the Lake State Railway. The D&M C425s were common power on the Grand Rapids train for a few years.
