Ann Arbor Road Power

Unread post by MIGN-Todd »

During the Michigan Interstate days, I"ve only seen 3O1 and 3O3 on the south end of the Annie. Did they only work from Toledo north to Owosso? I know the GP35's were mainly road power but where were the Alco's mostly used? Rs1s?, Rs2's? S-series switchers? Thanks in advance.

RS1's worked Ann Arbor and Owosso or Frankfort.

RS2's worked the entire system as did GP35's.

Switchers worked Toledo and / or Frankfort.

There were some deviations to these patterns due to maintenance, availability, etc.

301 - 303 were property of the Interstate and not the Ann Arbor RR, paid for by the State of Michigan.

I used to see the RS-2s going through Oak Grove most days back in the 70s and early 80s.
