AA mileposts

This is such a minor detail in every meaning of the word, but I'm planning an AA-themed 4x8 in N scale, and I was wondering if anyone knows what the Annie's mileposts looked like mid-70s to very early 80s. If it's ubiquitous it doesn't matter, but I want to make sure I'm not bypassing a unique detail.

Temple siding was removed circa 1970. 1972 at very latest.

It depends on you billing mile posts or actual mile posts, on the http://www.trainweb.org/annarbor/ under mile post selection I have listed every mile post from the employee timetables. As the railroad was rebuilt from the 1890s everything was being moved as grades reduced and lines straighten. By 1905 everything was pretty well in its place as far mile post go. A lot branch lines or long sidings continue to be removed.

I thought that is what you wer getting at, bust wasnt sure. On an N scale layout, how detailed can one get with mileposts? they would be awfully small.

Yeah, but it can be some nice added detail. It's really small to make, I'll give you that...

AA mileposts in that period were pretty plain, just a rectangle of white sheet metal with black numbers, oriented vertically. Not the "squared off" look of Conrail's numbers, more like CN's current style. Maybe a little bigger metal sheet than that, slightly bigger & thinner numbers maybe?

For extra authenticity in the north country, punch your model mileposts with a pin to simulate bullet holes.
