Caboose (re)restored in saline LS&MS 77954

Unread post by Ypsi »

Noticed this when I was in saline earlier this week.

Image

Restored to Lake Shore and Michigan Southern paint (not sure how accurate it is but it looks pretty darn good  ) this is the second time I can remember this caboose getting restored. Last time it was painted it it was painted into GTW. Nice job by Mr. Ted Micka ok the repair and restoration.

The Ann Arbor Railroad caboose between Saline and Bridgewater off of Austin Road has also been repainted. That one's just the conventional red though...

That caboose between Saline and Bridgewater, I see every time I go to Bridgewater. Is that where the ROW actually ran from Saline to Bridgewater (And beyond?) Whenever I'm out that way, I never see anything that looks like it could have even been an old railroad ROW. And I usually look pretty carefully when out that way.

Yes, the bridge that caboose is sitting on is the former LS&MS bridge at that location.

The ROW is fairly visible west of Saline in the Google Maps/Google Earth satellite view, since the ROW defined the property lines for many parcels. The tree line on either side of the ROW is a decent marker over much of the line.

From the ground, it's considerably less obvious.
