TSBY 's paint scheme origins & Q ?

Unread post by Mackinac Mac »

I wasn't really sure where to post this, but after looking over some photos of the TSBY, I figure Id ask some reoccuring questions that come to mind.

Here are some old pics in Cadillac by Bob Young showing AA colors on 392 and the TSB paint on #389.

http://www.trainweb.org/misl/young.htm

#389 looks worn and "chalky" already, but I don't believe the paint was THAT old on the unit back then.

1. When did TSB first paint a GP35? Which one? The first scheme was black and yellow.

2. The TSBY units now in the current TSB vibrant blue, yellow, when was the first unit painted this way?

And the ones not in the latest scheme, 391,393, and 394 ? Were these simply modified? They arent exactly balck and gold, but more of a chalky grey blue and orange ? Im just confused as to how many TSB schemes there were and perhaps if the older faded units were painted with a less superior method than the newer painted units.
