Michigan Department of Conservation Fish Car

Unread post by Standard Railfan »

The passenger car located at the Oden Fish Hatchery is being sand blasted. The car was in great need of a repaint.

The is a museum of the State’s fish rearing and stocking program of the early 20th Century.

Well worth the visit if you have the opportunity.

Was this car donated by the original ADBF management or is it a long term lease arrangement?
I've never seen photos of this car in either Blissfield or Charlotte.

I do not know what the ownership of the car is. I did note that the car still carries ADBF reporting marks.

Our very own Wiki page shows that it was built in 1937.
The notes show:
Sold early on to Oden State Fish Hatchery, Oden, MI. Railcar is displayed as recreated 1914-1935 Wolverine fish transport car
But also the History shows: Ex-VIA/CN 5210.

Who do you think edited that? It's why I am asking the question.

I'm going by memory but I think it was railed to Grand rapids by rail probably using the ABDF reporting marks.I know it was refurbished by West Shore Services in Allendale and a house mover moved it to Oden.
