About a week ago, I was in excruciating pain and got xrays, and learned that I suffered an injury to one of my ribs. As a result it’s sidelined me from railfanning likely for the rest of the year.
As a result, I started looking for ideas to build routes in Michigan. I came up with one (modern day Marquette Rail from Grand Rapids-Baldwin), and found a route on the download station (GT South East Michigan lines).
The GT route is very much unfinished, but all of the track alignments are right on the money. This massive route has the whole Holly Subdivision, Mount Clemens Subdivision and part of the Shoreline and Flint Subdivisions, it also has a big chunk of the old M.A.L (perfect for AARR’s PONW paper railroad ). I plan on making this route sort of a hybrid between modern day CN and the GTW in the 1980’s.
It starts on the southern most end at YD tower in Rover Rouge, and runs as far north as Port Huron (Mount Clemens subdivision) and Durand (Holly Subdivision). I believe it is built to scale, as it took me an hour and a half to run from Delray to Port Huron under timetable speeds.
I will keep this thread updated with posts regarding my builds on those two routes.
