Folsom Prison Blues wasn't about a train, it was about being in prison wishing you weren't. Beyond that it's entirely subjective. Personally I like some of the older stuff that is closer to its folk music roots.
Interestingly the Wabash Canonball was written about the Rock Island. The Carter family retitled it when they recorded it.
