According to this map, Deshler OH will be in the path of totality for the April 8, 2024 eclipse. I think we know where the RRFan.com meet will be that year!

The problem is April is often rainy, though even if it's cloudy, the sudden plunge into darkness during totality is a cool experience. It was like dusk during totality when I went down to Carbondale for the eclipse on Monday,

The sun was out when I took this photo, I was lucky to be in the part of Carbondale that wasn't covered by a big cloud during most of totality.

Saturday, September 9th, in Negaunee. Bring your car and a full gas tank, and I'll show you around the iron range, and perhaps range as far as Escanaba. This will be a roving meet so a car and gas money are required! :)

Halloween weekend, Downriver. We will start out at Oak Street, then it's on to Pennford to catch at least one CSX intermodal, then it's on to Pennsylvania Road and Harrison Avenue on the same lines that cross Oak Street. You will need a car and money, since on the way back from Pennford we are gonna stop at the by-then-new Wahlburgers on Eureka Road and I-75 (you know where Big Boy used to be?).

Just thought I'd share the quick video I took of just how dark it got during totality in Carbondale, IL on 8/21/17. The sky was dark over head, and like just after sunset all around the horizon. The sun/moon was a ring in the sky about the brightness of a full moon. You can see it flash by at the beginning of the video. The sun gradually got dimmer during the eclipse, then there was an immediate plunge into near darkness at totality. This was taken roughly at 1:20pm CDT.

There was a woman with several kids near me, and hundreds of people around me. When totality hit, everyone cheered. That baby either didn't like the people cheering, or the sudden darkness, or both.
