Men at Work (1990 Film)

I just finished watching Men at Work with Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estevez, Leslie Hope, Keith David, and etc. I love and enjoy chemistry and railroads. There is a scene with Maxwell Potterdam III (John Getz) that shows the production facility called Chemlife that manufactures paint thinner and waste that Potterdam disposes illegally in yellow barrels that seams to be a clear liquid. I'm interested in what that waste might be such as the chemical name. I looked up pain thinner on Wikipedia for the production process. Any help would be appreciated .
