RR fan seasonal bike rides

Unread post by MQT1223 »

Is there a possibility of expanding the annual bike ride to include seasonal ones instead of just one or two rides a year?

We could start with a fall color ride... Plenty of scenic rail trails around with good color in the fall, especially in the rural or northern areas.

I've rode bikes in the winter as well, snow as deep as 8-12 inches if its light and fluffy. Its not for the faint of heart and requires a lot of bundling up, but riding through snow and ice on bikes is very fun and makes you concentrate a lot more while riding. Plus who doesn't like seeing snow covered scenery? Riding in falling snow is also memorable.

Spring is a dead giveaway. All the wildflowers and trees waking up from hibernation is always a good time to dust off the bikes and see how the winter slumber has treated them.

Summer... well you've already got that covered.

Does this have enough of a following to make this a possible thing or should we stick to one or two rides a year? No trail is the same when the seasons change...

Just a thought.

Go for it. I love to ride. Several of us have already gotten together a few times this year already. I personally don't like to ride in temperatures much below 50 degrees though but might make an exception if everyone else was doing it. Snow? Well I have cross country Ski's for those days.

Go for it. I'll be in sunny Florida, living vicariously through your snowy adventures.

MQT1223, will you be attending the ride then if you plan it? Last ride, you said you'd go on that saturday, and when the original time hit that we were going to go, you were up north instead. We did delay it at the last minute and rescheduled for the next day, but still...
Had a good evening ride tonight, rode out to Caledonia and back. Mapmyride says: Distance 21.68mi - Duration 1:32:00 - Avg Speed 14.1 mph - kCal 1581

Yes. I would plan better. However I wasn't counting on having to help with tree cleanup due to a Tornado. Sunday didn't work cause I had to work the next day and the ride was later at night.

I'm more trying to see what public opinion is with this.
