Google Earth images of Sunnyside, Grand rapids area have just been updated (dated April 14 of this year).

Ok. There's a fairly recent signal bridge that was put in at Godfrey a couple years ago.. Always glad when google gets more detailed mapping done, but anything else that would be interesting to most users on this board about why an updated google earth image of that particular junction would be useful?

NOTE: Info refers to the inagery, not what's out there two months later. Add your own field observations if you wish.

Interurban: City's done a lot of sewer work along the Interurban ROW South of Plaster Creek; it's pretty much disappeared into manicured ball fields and parking lots.

Amtrak: If you have PanOramio enabled, there are a half dozen shots of the station, taken shortly before it opened.

Old PRR: Grand Elk yard clearly shows which tracks are for storage and which ones are actually in use. The old interchange that parallels Cottage Grove looks less like an industrial waste dump -- I wonder if someone was ordered to clean it up?

Old PM: Maggie's Lead still has the line of cars-to-scrap. The tracks normally associated with scrapping at the far West end are solid gondolas -- nothing else. Alas, almost all the old green wood/steel MOW equipent is gone. Lots of empty tracks around the shop buildings.

Old NYC: Tracks over Fulton are cutand the actual crossing is gone, with grass and sidewalks in place. Not all the street rebuilding for the area project is done. The Watson cul-de-sac, however, is. Old rails still haben't been removed elsewhere -- they run right up to the edge of the new sidewalks. Some surprisingly large new buildings have been built. Old Baggage House is in prino condition. GVSU treats it well. It's a great example of a siccessful restoration. LSMS ROW that curves away from Padnos is amazingly manicured -- not a single truck tire or smashed box in sight.

In general, there's been a substantial amount of tree cutting and trash removal.

The images of the new NS bridge S of Detroit had ben refreshed several months ago. Not a ding or scratch on the plate girder bridge, and nobody had gotten wround to weathering the black paint job yet.

Milwaukee Junction also shows as completed.
