As a DJ for 32 years, I sure played a lot of Prince's music. Great stuff. The first two hits I recall were I Wanta Be Your Lover, and Private Joy, back in the late 70s. Many more followed.
Those were great times, with Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Earth Wind and Fire, Teddy Pendergrass, Morris Day and The Time, cranking out a new hit almost every week.
My buddy and I would buy records at Angott Records, over on Puritan, in Detroit. They were wholesalers to the jukebox operators, but they sold to DJs also. We got 45s for 25 cents, and LPs for $1.50 to $2.00. We went over there every week or two and always came out with a handful of new hits. Good times.
So much talent has been lost too soon. Prince, Michael Jackson, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson, Jim Croce to name a few.

24 years for me, and Prince's music was always a big draw on dance floors in the many clubs I worked in.
