If auto racing was run like a railroad...

At the start of the race the cars would set at the end of pit road for an hour waiting permission to enter the track.
There would still be cars in the pit waiting for a rested driver when the race ended.
The rest of the cars would be setting on the track waiting to get into the pit.
Any cars racing on the east or west coast would be covered in graffiti.
A teams good cars would all be in another state being driven by another team.
The cockpits would smell like chemical toilets and engine exhaust.
Formula 1 cars would all be in storage due to high operating costs.
Stock cars would be an average 15 years old.
Hunter Harrison would slow his cars down to save fuel.
Danica Patrick would win a race.

And if a driver waves when his picture gets taken someone will complain he "ruined" their picture.

In order to save money, there would only be one lane on the track. Passing would only be permitted on short "sidings".
