What is the reason for the recent surge in hiring of conductors on Conrail?

Should have checked this before. According to management, they area expecting some vacancies and would like to have some people trained to meet the need. I KNOW it's hard to say without laughing

There was some changes at the top of the pile. Some of the friends and family plan new hires did not work out. They have let some of them go because they just were not getting it.
