I think I narrowed into the exact spot. Goldengate Street in Lake Orion.

Yes, its Goldengate Street, looking southwest under the former MC, later NYCS, later PC railroad, now Paint Creek Trail in Orion township, Oakland County. Between Lake Orion and Rochester. Goldengate Street is about a mile east of M-24. Final run of the remaining NYCS passenger trains which were trains 394/395 between Detroit and Bay City with stops in Rochester and Lake Orion, was made on March 19, 1964.

The 1636 was about a year old when this was shot. Trackage of two railroads are crossing here though back in the day it was three. Both diamonds have been removed but two of the tracks remain. The line the 1636 is on and one other.

I agree with 1949. I also thought it looked like Kalamazoo but didn't have time to look for the exact location. Nice job as usual 1949 :) .

Gibson St it is. The 1636 is on the LS&MS-NYC headed back to Botsford from Allied Paper. They are crossing the ex GR&I-PRR and are about to cross the GTW. The GTW track was removed in the late 80's when the CK&S and GRI were joined at "PJ". The diamond with the PRR was protected by pot lights controlled by BO Tower. The GTW diamond had a tilting target signal set by the GTW crews when the crossed the diamond.

When was the last scheduled passenger train on the NYC trackage? In the mid-80's Amtrak was laying new welded rail west of Kalamazoo. The first two passenger trains of the day ran up and down the Kalamazoo Branch to give Amtrak a bigger morning window to lay rail.

Yes, that's the interlocking crossing of the three railroads mentioned above, just north of Gibson Street, Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County. The shot above is looking south towards Gibson Street. Final run of the remaining passenger train on the exGR&I-PRR,the Nothern Arrow Summer resort train between Cincinnati, OH and Mackinaw City, was on Friday, September 1, 1961 from Cinciny to Mack City and on Tuesday, September 5, 1961 from Mack City to Cinciny. No passenger train service at all on the old GTW Pavillion Sub. And finally passenger train service on exLS&MS-NYC was discontinued many years ago. Actually, Amtrak did ran trains 360/361 the Woverine detour passenger between Kalamazoo and Chicago via the Conrail Kalamazoo Branch to and from Elkhart, IN and the old NYC Water Level (now NS) between Elkhart and Porter with stops at South Bend, IN. It ran from June 13 to September 4, 1983 due to track work on the Amtrak Line between Kalamazoo and Porter

Yes, indeed, Hoover Treated Wood Products, Inc on the south side of E. Davison Street, just west of Van Dyke Avenue, and west of CN's Mt. Clemens Sub, Detroit, Wayne County.
