That structure on the right is a huge clue about where this was taken.
Not south or in Grand rapids. Bridge is approx 1000' in length.

Redridge, MI - a short distance west of Houghton.

The structure to the right is actually the Redridge Steel Dam, one of only three major dams ever constructed of steel.

The dam was built for mining purposes, and today holds back only of the fraction of the water it was designed for, as holes have been cut into it to lower the lake permanently.

Definitely a sight to behold, a must-see "bucket list" item for MTU Civil Engineering Students :D

This was posted by Maddog at MichiganRailroads.com. Maddog says its CN Mt. Clemens Sub over Clinton River but several of the more knowledgeable posters don't think that's correct (I don't either). His hints are it's a mainline in SE MI looking north (the hints may not be correct). You guys are pretty good at finding locations so I thought you'd like a good challenge :D .

Kinda looks like one of those tie pile pictures someone posted from what's left of the MMRR east of Grand Rapids somewhere.

Hahahaha I posted a stumper for once. Keep on trying, no close guesses yet. Yes to Michigan, and yes in the Lower Peninsula.
