This view from an Interstate Highway in Michigan shows what is left of the RR Bridge that span this river.

Yes, Detroit-Toledo Expressway aka I-75 and the old Detroit, Monroe and Toledo Short Line Railorad both span over the water of the Huron River, near South Rockwood, in Berlin Township, Monroe County. The shot above is looking west along the river.

Clearly not Michigan. A needle in a hay stack so to speak.

I will go with Colorado. It's been years now since my last visit so no chance of narrowing it down.

There is an incredible amount of abandoned and never used right-of-ways in the Colorado mountains.
Given how rugged the mountains are, I never imagined that was true.
But if someone could get some investors, there were many timber stands and many mining areas just waiting for a railroad to come.
Of course many of those railroads failed as quickly as they were built. Some failed before they could be built.

It is in Colorado. The track was pulled up in the 30's I believe. it was a scenic but torturous route. A needle among the hay stacks...that's a clue.

Looking north from the railroad west(actually north) portal of the Needle's Eye Tunnel on Rollins Pass. Original route of the Denver and Salt Lake on it's way to Craig, Colorado(just a teensy-weensy bit short of Salt Lake). I managed to find that image on google street view BTW.

During the mid-1980's I drove across that right-of-way. While the Needle's Eye tunnel had already suffered a partial collapse, it was possible to get across with a real 4 wheel drive vehicle(aka full size Bronco). Around the corner was the Devil's Slide Trestles. I was truly glad that I crossed them first and then inspected them on foot afterwards. Now both the tunnel and trestle have been effectively blocked to vehicle traffic because of long time structural issues with both.

Corona and the Rollins Pass had to be the frozen version of hell in the winter.

That's it. This portion of the line wasn't for the faint at heart.

As Mr Spock says, "fascinating". The track is for moving the radio telescopes to change the radius and density of the array.

Correct Michael, nice work. Saw a pic of a radio telescope next to railroad tracks in a video, quick google search for that subject, and found a good "where is it" :)

Again not in Michigan. I dare say most Midwest railfans have been very close to this spot.

Sounds like the Chicago area. There's nothing like that near Rochelle, or IRM for that matter. It kind of looks like it could be near West Chicago though...
