No not South America. Some similarities though.

First photo was taken in 1971 when the railroad was still active.

Second photo was taken in 2004
The rails end just past the station

Spain. The architecture is similar to a station in The Good the Bad and the Ugly. I'm guessing Spain on a railroad used in spaghetti westerns.

Yes Spain, very good! South of Cenasuras, Granada, Spain and you are close on the movie. It was featured in a Sergio Leone classic "Duck you Sucker" also known as "A fist full of dynamite" my most fav spaghetti western, lots of train action. Check it out sometime.

Here is a google street view you can see from Pat and my posting that all the tracks are gone and the station is now in derelict condition, this shot is 2018, so quite recent. Kind of a shame that this is not old history, but disappeared during most of our life times. Well you can't save everything. Just that it was a cool building in it's time.

Not sure of the location but the movie is "The Train" with Burt Lancaster. France? This is where the train slowly comes to halt after "Papa Boule" sabatoged one of the side rods by putting a coin in the grease fitting.
I used to get paid for doing what all of you like to watch!

Hogger, you are correct it being in France and the sabotaged scene. Much of the movie was filmed in Vaires-sur-Marne, France.Name changed to
the fictional town Rive-Reine as seen in the Photo. Very good. Probably the best train movie ever produced.

Sticking with the movie location theme I have a classic from 40 years ago

Although it really looks nothing like this in the movie

Doesn't appear to be in Michigan AARR. Looking closely at that Interstate sign, think it says I-10 so it's somewhere between Florida and California...

It is in Alabama. Nowhere near where it is supposed to be in this classic sci-fi film from the '70's

It's Irvington, Al looking north along Padgett Switch Road to the intersection with US-90 and Alabama State Highway 76. That track in Michael's above shot is the former L&N RR main line that run between New Orleans, LA and Jacksonville, FL via Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL interchanged with the former SAL RR line at Chattahoochee, FL. Irvington is about 30 miles west of Mobile. There was a Amtrak train that ran between New Orleans an d Jacksonville until it was suspended in August, 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina that swept the Gulf coast. It was train nos. 1 and 2, the Sunset Limited. That interstate sign AARR mentioned about is "To I-10".
