Michael is correct! It's on the Huron and Eastern, former NYC, former GTW, former Central Michigan. Please see the rest of my story above.Michael wrote:No. Huron & Eastern I believe. Former GTW line

It's not Rogers City (Calcite). It's not Port Dolomite Limestone near Cedarville in the da UP. There are active tracks just on the other side of the abandoned bridge in the middle of the photo. At one point the tracks crossed the bridge and continued on to connect to the very same mainline.

Not Michigan but with a bit of detective work it shouldn't be that hard.

Re: Where Is It?
That's Bowling Green, KY. Yes, that's Bowling Green on the ex L&N RR main line between Louisville and Nashvile. It's at Memphis Junction where the main line split off to Memphis, TN. Memphis Junction is also in the Warren County (KY) School district, Warren County. It's have a Bowling Green, KY 42101 address.PatAzo wrote:Your warm.railrod1949 wrote:Bowling Green, KY or west of Altoona, PA.PatAzo wrote:Not Michigan but with a bit of detective work it shouldn't be that hard.

Memphis Junction on the south side of Bowling Green. The track in the foreground is the ex-L&N mainline to Nashville. R.J. Corman is coming of the Memphis line that back in the day split off to Memphis.railrod1949 wrote:That's Bowling Green, KY.

Once an important main line in Michigan, this has been reduced to a Rail trail.

Yes, indeed! That's Cedar Street, Wolverine, Wolverine Community Schools district, Cheboygan County, with the former MC, former NYC, former PC, former D&M, now the N Central State Trail, in the foreground. It's have a Wolverine, MI 49799 address.

Johannesburg, The Old Depot (current name of eatery), on M-32, in the Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools district, Charlton Township, Otsego County. That current depot was first open in 2002 after the old MC RR depot was torn down after the latter was hit by a automobile on M-32, back on July 29, 2001.

Rodney you got it!
Here is a shot of the original depot. I've had lunch there a few years back. The loss of the historic building is somewhat offset by the replica depot restaurant that doesn't have crooked floors or that musty smell. Kudos to the owners that rebuilt.

Johannesburg, or Joeburg as the locals call it, also used to have its depot from the Ausable and Northwestern until it was damaged in a storm roughly 15-20 years ago. It was most likely the last surviving structure from a Lower Peninsula 3 foot freight hauler. It along with Comins, were destroyed at roughly the same time.

Ummnn.. It was the Michigan Central that built the Depot, and was destroyed by an automobile crash rather than a storm.MQT1223 wrote:Johannesburg used to have its depot from the Ausable and Northwestern until it was damaged in a storm roughly 15-20 years ago.
'I was trying to commit suicide'

GAYLORD - Looking gaunt and lost in orange jail garb Cynthia Kundrat pleaded "guilty, but mentally ill" in a weak voice to charges of manslaughter and felonious driving Tuesday in the 46th Circuit Court to one count of manslaughter with a motor vehicle and two counts of felonious driving.
As part of a plea agreement, Tuesday's actions before Judge Alton T. Davis all but sentenced the 38-year-old Johannesburg resident, closing the case against her dating back to July 29 when she ran her car through a sharp curve of M-32 in Johannesburg, intending to commit suicide by crashing into the Old Depot Restaurant.
Peggy Koronka, 29, and Teagan Ferlaak, 4, died from injuries they sustained in the crash at the tiny, popular, family-owned restaurant where they were eating that morning. Several others were injured in the incident.
No sentencing date was set. Kundrat faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.

Locals that I've talked to mentioned there was a second depot that was destroyed by a storm in Joeburg, or at least a building that acted as a depot for the AS&NW.Pixl wrote:Ummnn.. Any pictures of the damage to the building hit by the car? Must've been catastrophic.

There is a small picture in this Petoskey News article. The car went completely inside the restaurant and had to be rolled over by customers to get victims out from under it.MQT1223 wrote:
