You're close....
Re: Where Is It?
The wye at Port Sheldon is more spacious (and has trees) than what is in Steve's picture. The locomotive is approaching what appears to be a cross over. Is it a wye or the illusion of a wye? There is the remains of a pole line in the back groumd.~Z~ wrote:The wye at Port Sheldon MI? Although I think port Sheldon has trees in the middle of the wye...SteveHiuzenga wrote:

"Zis is taking us south!" I watched The Train again last night. Go east. The yellow thing in the background doesn't show in the satellite image. Go east.

Ageed, Indeed it's the CN at S. Kinross Road crossing, looking northeast toward the Soo, in Kinross, Kinross Township, Chippewa County. Final run of the remaining passenger train on the former Soo Lines RR between Minneapolis-St Paul, MN and the Soo were made 58 years ago tomorrow, March 5, 1960 with the final arrival at and final departure from the Soo. The shot above is just west of the Chippewa County international Airport.DaveO wrote:CN @ South Kinross Road crossingPatAzo wrote: "Zis is taking us south!" I watched The Train again last night. Says it's a N908 coal train, looks like a wye, doesn't appear to be Holland or the wye in downtown GR. Not sure where this is.SteveHiuzenga wrote:So did we give up?

Re: Where Is It?
You were close when you said the Wye in Post Sheldon....just a few miles back down the track...this was taken behind the feed tower at US 31 and Van Buren Street....the alleged cross over that was mentioned is actually where the siding rejoins the main, and the track on the left is the siding going to the tower.

Yes, indeed, it's the Hamilton Feed Tower at the SW area of US-31 and Van Buren Street in Olive Township, Ottawa County. The shot above is looking south along the CSX Muskegon Sub toward Holland. The The Consumer Energy Campbell Plant in Port Sheldon which is to the right of the shot (not visible). Final run of the remaining passenger trains between Holland and Muskegon passing the feed tower, was made on April 30, 1971. The consist of the passenger train was a engine and a coach.
