The old ROW was the former C&O Railway Northport branch between Traverse City and Northport. Later it was the Leelanau Scenic RR between TC and Suttons Bay in Suttons Bay Township, Leelanau County. Final of the remaining passenger train service on the former Northport branch between TC and Northport, was many years ago and as Michael mentioned passenger train excursions pm on the Leelanau Scenic RR was discontinued in 1995. That caboose was the former GTW RR Caboose.

So there's an opening in a curb where the tracks used to go, some grass and trees, and a couple cement barricades. Yeah... unless someone's been to this specific spot, it's gonna be hard.

So it's not Detroit. Is it on the old Romeo Sub? Updyke Road in Pontiac perhaps?

Judging by a big building way in the distance on the left it is in within a city. AARR, it's Opdyke Road, not Updyke Road.

Not sure if this piece of track ever would have seen passenger service.

Not the Romeo Sub, but close.

Sanderson Street Pontiac.

Used to be the north leg of the Pontiac Wye and connection to the Cass City Sub.
In the later years the south leg had been removed.
IIRC the commuter trains used the small yard next to the wye to overnight. But I maybe wrong on that. So correct away.

edit: This was the site of the Pontiac, Oxford and Northern Roundhouse.

Yes, indeed, used to be the north leg of the Pontiac wye to the Cass City Sub . The north leg crosses Sanderson Avenue and was connected to the CN Holly Sub at the right (not visible). The photo above is looking south towards Cass Avenue. The south leg was removed in the later years. The commuter train cars never used the small yard next to the wye at all. That yard was used to drop or pick up the freight cars by the mixed train nos. 49 and 53 until the mixed train discontinued December 31, 1955. The Commuter train cars parked overnight adjacent to the Pontiac roundhouse at the main Pontiac yard. All in Pontiac, Oakland County. I lives six miles north of Pontiac for 66 years.
